Dongdaemun Library Competition

Windborne Pages

Inspired by the notion of being „moved by wind“ , ourdesign is a lightweight architecture which brings a sense of transparency andopenness to the densely populated neighborhood. The library reflects thedynamic history of the neighborhood and the unique surface of the site byembedding these existing qualities in its Architectural language. The airysilhouette resembles pages of a book being gently blown by the wind. This givesthe architecture a lightweighted, breathing feeling. The motion of air softlymoving and passing through the building gives Windborne Pages, its name. Thisiconography symbolizes the ever-evolving nature of knowledge and culture.
